A market leader in the oil and gas sector have an immediate requirement for a Principal Safety Engineer. They provide a wide range of services to the offshore industry world-wide including independent inspection, certification, verification and validation, together with advanced engineering and risk management services. They are currently looking to recruit a Principal Safety Engineer to provide support to the Safety Technology Section of their Group. Your main function will be to assess the design/ production/ in-service aspects of engineering assets, using procedures, experience and knowledge appropriate for complex/demanding situations. The role includes managing projects. Aberdeen based.
• Lead risk management project activities in the department
• Lead/facilitate HAZID/HAZOP studies
• Manage, carry out or participate in various safety studies in the area of safety engineering
• Manage, carry out or participate in QRA activities
• Participate in assuring legislative compliance on behalf of clients (safety case and supporting regulations, pipelines safety regulations)
• Assist clients with general health, safety and environmental requirements
• Supervise senior engineers / risk analysts, engineers and technical assistants.
We are looking for candidates with a degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, with a proven in-depth track record of relevant experience with in oil and gas background. Ideally, you will have chartered status with and engineering or scientific institute and/or have the relevant experience in a similar role within the oil and gas industry.
Familiar with hazard identification techniques, you will have an organised, practical approach. The role will require adaptability and an ability to work to sometimes tight deadlines. There may also be a requirement to travel both offshore and overseas, sometimes at short notice.
You will also need good communication skills, including technical report writing; the ability to work to tight deadlines and adaptability.
Salary: £57,200 - £95,300.
