Environment Artist – Computer Games Development - Singapore
A successful, high profile Computer Games Developer is now inviting applications for the position of Environment Artist to work on a Computer Games Development project based full time in Singapore, South East Asia.
The Environment Artists main responsibility is to create Worlds and the objects they contain within the Computer Game. You will be working to create high and low resolution mesh to both an artistic as well as a technical brief closely with Designers, Concept Artists and the Art Director. As an Environment Artist you will be an expert in advanced 3d packages and modern digital painting processes. You will have a proven understanding of lighting concepts and are familiar with game lighting, vertex and texture baking processes.
Environment Artists are required to create maps for common shader passes such as normal and specular maps. They are also responsible for damage states, props and game data creation such as collision or occlusion zones.
Requirements:
• A strong technical background in MAX, Photoshop/Painter or equivalent software.
• Solid understanding of 3D art processes/pipelines for games production.
• The ability to work under the guidance and direction of the Game and Art Directors.
• The ability to work toward timelines.
• Good communication skills.
• A passion for making and playing of online games.
• A love for team/collaborative work.
• Unreal3 experience a plus
Having shipped some games is a plus, but not necessary. Artists providing direct links to online samples will be considered first!
Salary is in the region of S$2,500 to S$4,500 (Singapore Dollars) depending on experience (due to the very favourable tax regime in Singapore this is roughly equivalent to £25,000 to £32,000).
The role will suit individuals currently working as Environment Artist, Character Artist, Games Artist, Graphic Artist, Games Developer, Games Producer and living within a commutable distance of Singapore, South East Asia or willing to relocate.
