Web Applications Developer – ASP, ASP.Net, PHP, SQL, VB – Ipswich, Suffolk
A successful, high profile company in the Financial Services sector is now seeking to recruit an experienced Web Applications Developer to join their busy team in Ipswich.
Working as part of a small team, the role is essentially centred on development and analysis for web solutions and support of these systems. The ability to follow projects through full project lifecycle is essential as is an ability to maintain existing applications. Reporting to the Head of IT, this role requires a close relationship with operational teams as well as Finance.
Key Deliverables
• Business Analysis: Liaises with the business to document requirements for IT related business solutions that automate/improve business processes.
• Writes technical specifications for IT team to assist developer(s) in producing a solution that meets business requirements.
• Develops software that meets internal development standards, fulfils requirements from the business.
• Create test scripts for automated testing, tailored test routines for User Acceptance Testing and Sign Off.
• Produce, modify or maintain web solutions using a variety of technologies
• Provide accurate timing estimates for work based on verbal and written technical briefs.
• Ensure all projects are delivered on time and to the highest possible standard, working outside of normal office hours if required
Qualifications and Skills
• Educated to higher education/degree standard or work experience to a similar level.
• Essential: Classic ASP, ASP.NET, PHP, HTML, CSS, SQL.
• Excellent knowledge of SQL (joins, aggregate functions, stored procedures, modifying and returning data).
• Software Packages: MS Visual Studio, Adobe Dreamweaver, MS SQL Server, MySQL.
• Desirable: XML, RSS, JAX, VB.NET, Perl, JavaScript and VB6, Web Services.
Experience & Personal Qualities
• Understands relational databases
• Knowledge of Windows and Web Development.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment;
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent numerical ability.
• Uses initiative, prioritises tasks and works well under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong documentation skills including business processes, user requirements, business analysis and user guides.
• Excellent IT and inter-personal skills.
• Ideally the candidate will have gained experience in the Financial Services Industry.
• Understands the process of Source Control.
• Understands the importance of security in the software development lifecycle.
