Mechanical Project / Development Engineer
A leading supplier of high quality products and services for remote handling and robotic applications has an immediate requirement for Mechanical Development Engineer to join them in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
As Mechanical Project / Development Engineer you will work in the area of procurement, commissioning, maintenance, testing and development of complex mechanical handling devices. The equipment comprises a wide range of mainly electromechanical devices varying in physical size from small hand tools up to a 400kg capacity robotic arm with a reach of 10 metres. The special tools include devices for remote manipulation, cleaning, welding, cutting, handling and inspection.
The Remote Handling Mechanical Development Engineer will be expected to work in the area of special tooling and fulfil the following functions:
• Writing of manufacturing tender specifications, selection and supervision of sub-contractors.
• Acceptance testing of new equipment.
• Organisation of Mechanical Assembly Tasks. Ensuring that assembly teams are provided with correct drawings and documentation and are using them.
• Preparation of Assembly Procedures, Maintenance Documents, Risk Assessments and Authorisation Documentation
• Communication with RH Staff in related Technologies
• Planning of the Work Schedules
• Reporting of Design errors to the Design Team. Make recommendation for solving problems.
Qualifications and Experience:
The following are the minimum requirements:
• Recognised qualification in engineering at HND level or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in the procurement, testing, maintenance or commissioning of mechanical equipment
• Experience in the generation of technical documents for manufacture, testing, maintenance or commissioning of mechanical equipment
• Ability to co-operate and work as a part of a team
• An excellent working knowledge of English
£25,000 to £35,000 per annum
Stakeholder pension scheme to which the company contributes a sum equivalent to 5% of the annual basic salary.
