Design Engineer – Remote Handling Equipment, Abingdon, Oxfordshire
A leading supplier of high quality products and services for remote handling and robotic applications has an immediate requirement for a Design Engineer – Remote Handling Equipment to join them in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
As Design Engineer you will work on the design and development of remote handling mechanical systems. The handling equipment comprises a wide range of mainly electromechanical devices varying in physical size from small hand tools up to a 400kg capacity robotic arm with a reach of 10 metres. The systems are primarily electro-mechanical and have been designed and developed by the engineers
Qualifications and Experience:
The following are minimum requirements for the role:-
• Recognised qualification in engineering at degree level or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3 years experience of design for low volume production (such as special purpose machines or tool room equipment).
• Ability to instruct and supervise design draughtsmen
• Ability to co-operate and work as a part of a small team
• An excellent working knowledge of English
Any of the following will be of benefit:
• Experience in machine shop manufacturing techniques and processes.
• An aptitude for ingenuity in solving engineering problems.
• Ability to present and justify design decisions at design reviews
• Ability to plan design work and maintain tight schedules
• Ability to fault-find and commission equipment when delivered
• Ability to write specifications and instruction documents
• An interest in automation and robotics
• A basic understanding of allied technologies such as control-systems and electro-mechanical.
Salary and Benefits
£30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.
Stakeholder pension scheme into which the company will pay an additional 5% of basic salary.
Other benefits include 33 days annual leave, annual health checks, accident and sickness insurance and company a share ownership scheme.
