As Mechanical Design Engineer you will work on the design and development of remote handling mechanical systems comprising of a wide range of mainly electromechanical devices varying in physical size from small hand tools up to a 400kg capacity robotic arm with a reach of 10 metres.
As Mechanical Design Engineer you will work as part of a small team and provide the following service:
•Creation of designs from concept to system specifications and detail designs of special purpose tools for remote handling.
•Commissioning and support of the systems when in operation.
Qualifications and Experience:
The following are minimum requirements for the role:
•Recognised qualification in engineering at degree level or equivalent practical experience.
•Minimum of 3 years experience of design for low volume production (such as special purpose machines or tool room equipment).
•Ability to instruct and supervise design draughtsmen
•Ability to co-operate and work as a part of a small team
•An excellent working knowledge of English
Any of the following will be of benefit:
•Experience in machine shop manufacturing techniques and processes.
•An aptitude for ingenuity in solving engineering problems.
•Ability to present and justify design decisions at design reviews
•Ability to plan design work and maintain tight schedules
•Ability to fault-find and commission equipment when delivered
•Ability to write specifications and instruction documents
•An interest in automation and robotics
•A basic understanding of allied technologies such as control-systems and electro-mechanical.
Salary and Benefits
£30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.
Stakeholder pension scheme into which the company will pay an additional 5% of basic salary.
